Voting 'Irregularities' in North Carolina Appear, Machine Counts Votes for Democrats

North Carolina, a state that Barack Obama barely won in 2008 appears to be having some problems with their voting machines. This historic win was carried out as the first Democrat to win the state in over a decade. Now, apparently that state may be having some more problems.

Apparently at least one voter went in and voted Republican and found that the machine had registered his vote to the Democrats. Similar problems are arising in Nevada where the English ballots have Harry Reid's
name already checked.

Naturally, with many races being close in the final week in the campaign any possibility of voter fraud is incredibly important and sensitive. That's what the Sun Journal is reporting may have happened in North Carolina.

“They pushed it twice and the same thing happened,” Laughinghouse said. “That was four times in a row. The fifth time they pushed it and the Republicans came up and I voted.”
M. Ray Wood, Craven County Board of elections chairman, issued a written statement saying that the elections board is aware of isolated issues and that in each case the voter was able to cast his or her ballot as desired.

Apparently, the problem appears to be spreading:

“Something is not right here,” Tyson told the Sun Journal. He said he “got two or three calls” from people describing the same problem while they were voting.
“I’ll be matter of fact, I didn’t find that press release satisfactory,” Tyson said, referring to Wood’s written statement.
Tyson reported other problems as well, including long lines waiting for just two voting machines in Havelock, and machines reporting 250 ballots cast where 400 voters had signed in to vote.

This appears to be affecting the ballot boxes from coast to coast. Luckily some mistakes have already been caught. However, it appears that if this continues the races next week will be even more interesting-- and contested.
