This poll is an amalgam of those who are most likely to run. Chris Christie is not on this list because he has consistently denied running in 2012, so he may be a 2016 contender. All of the rest have either openly spoken about it or have been mentioned. If we forgot someone, please comment who you would support. I know that 2012 is two years away but for many it's too long of a wait!

Why isn't Bob Dole on the list?
ReplyDeleteAny list without Allen West is irrelevant.
ReplyDeletePlease, someone sneak up and put a pillow over the faces of Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, and Ron Paul as they sleep. But, where's Christie?
ReplyDeleteObviously, Haley Barbour is the best candidate of all of these. And of course, there is no chance that he could win the primary, either.
a. Read the intro. paragraph to find out where Christie is. Besides, squishy on amnesty and ground zero mosque, Mike Castle supporter, supports gun control, and is self-confessed "not a tea party guy." No thanks.
ReplyDeleteb. Allen West will have been a Rep for ... how many hours ... before he'd have to declare his candidacy for President? Even VP would be a stretch, but I could maybe see that.
c. Whenever people say obviously, it means they don't have an argument to make and must therefore shut down conversation by saying something's obvious. Re: Barbour, unless the electorate makes a HUGE swing back to the Establishment, it ain't going for Mr. Establishment, former RNC Chair, former lobbyist, Barbour.
I did read the beginning paragraph, it was a JOKE. Kinda like smothering the others. I was KIDDING.
ReplyDeleteI do appreciate moving straight forward to trash the Republican establishment, but why stay in the Republican Party, then? Haley Barbour is the person that engineered the last takeover of Congress, is a Reaganite, has done a superior job throwing out the crazies in Mississippi, and is probably the most knowledgeable political mind of the bunch.
Yet, again, like I said, Haley could not make it through the primary.
Thanks, hrh, for reminding everyone that there are absolute jerks in both parties and allegiance to one person, Sarah Palin, or whomever, should never trump principles.
Pawlenty is running. He should be included.
ReplyDeleteBarbour is accomplished, well connected, without a doubt Conservative, and would make a damn fine President in the mold of Ronald Reagan, yet with a southern accent.

And he says, "Missippi," which drives me BONKERS. If he is in the primary, he gets my money, my help, and my vote. Then when he loses, whomever he endorses gets what I was giving to him.
ReplyDeleteDaniels has the budgetary skills necessary
ReplyDeleteI won't vote for anyone who starts campaigning in the middle of his/her term in office. They should keep their promises to those who elected them and finish that term. No, they can't serve and campaign; both are full-time jobs. This keeps Alan West and the rest of 2010's batch in Congress, where we can see if they live up to their promises.
ReplyDeleteRon Paul is not electable, and Huckabee is sleezy. Gingrich and Romney had their chances. Daniels doesn't have the name recognition, and Palin is better off proving herself as vice-president first.
That leaves a Barbour/Bolton ticket.
The Barbour/Bolton ticket would get my backing to the hilt. Especially if Bolton rocks the 'Stache.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't Paul Ryan on this list? Romney, Huckabee, Paul and Bolton are sure losers.
ReplyDeletejust like in Nevada: None Of The Above.
ReplyDeleteJim DeMint would get my vote, but he has said that he's not interested and has no desire to be President. He also said that whomever the Conservative candidate is, will have a very tough first term and will have to make some very difficult decisions. He needs to be a good manager and have a good understanding of economics. So we already know where this is headed.
ReplyDeleteSomeone is going to have to bite the bullet and it's almost an ironclad guarantee that the Obama administration doesn't have the cojones to do it. In fact, it goes against their whole agenda. Americans just need to get and be prepared for the belt tightening that's coming down the pike.
The first cuts need to be the generally useless Dept. of Education...(the states and counties/cities can do a much better job). The EPA also would be one of the first programs up on the chopping block as well as the Dept. of Energy, which is as useless as the Dept. of Education. They don't produce any energy so WTF good are they...just another drain on our tax dollars that could be better spent somewhere else. One more department that needs to be cut out is the BATF. They are a dinosaur alphabet agency that outlived it's usefulness about 70 years ago.
The Social programs, ( welfare, SSI, medicare, ect.), would then come up for scrutiny and I fore see some cuts there as well. We need the Dept. of Defense, but we can probably identify some areas of shared resources and responsibilities that can be pared down into a more lean government unit.
It aint gonna be pretty my friends, but it's gotta be done.
Mike
I would 100% back the Barbour/Bolton ticket in both the 2012 Republican Primaries, and the 12' Presidential election. Barbour has not only the experience, money, and connections, but his 99% Conservative credentials as a budgeter, and as someone who reformed the entire culture of the state with TORT reform, which is something the Nation as a whole needs more than ever now.
