Gaddafi on Unrest: Don't Blame Me, Blame bin Laden

After giving a rambling, most incomprehensible speech on Tuesday, in which he blamed the United States, drugs, and "someone with a beard" for causing the uprisings across his country, Dictator Maummar Gaddafi has decided to blame someone else: Osama bin Laden.

In a phone call to Libyan television, Gaddafi stated:

“Bin Laden … this is the enemy who is manipulating people.  Do not be swayed by bin Laden.”

Later in the statement, Gaddafi pleaded:

“What is happening in Zawiyah is a farce. … Sane men don’t enter such a farce... Leave the country calm.”
