The nomination for President in 2012 is wide open at this point. The Republican Party has no clear frontrunner and many potential candidates about a year before the start of primary season. As of today, the picture appears murkier than before.
Two of the three leaders of the recent polling were candidates in 2008, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney. Third is the party's Vice Presidential candidate from that year, Sarah Palin.
This poll comes to us via CNN, which asked potential Republican voters for their first choice in the nomination. Their answers were.... wide open.
Huckabee: 21%
Palin: 19%
Romney: 18%
Gingrich: 10%
Christie: 7%
Paul: 7%
Pawlenty: 3%
Daniels: 3%
Barbour: 3%
Pence: 1%
Santorum: 1%
Thune: 1%
This looks interesting and several weeks after a Rasmussen poll placed Romney up by five percent.
