The best part of this poll is that fact that pro-union protesters were eager to call Walker a Nazi, a "turd," Benito Mussolini, and even Osama bin Laden. With this new poll, I suppose these union followers will now call a plurality of Americans Nazis and such. In other words, according to unions, there are a hundred million Osama bin Ladens running around the United States!
The poll continues that 14% of Americans are undecided.
As could be expected, there is a strong partisan split. Democrats and liberals were much more likely to side with unions while Republicans and conservatives were much more likely to side with Governor Walker.
68% of Democrats support unions in the dispute, while the same percent of Republicans side with Walker. Very telling, however, is the fact that a solid majority of independents side with the governor: 56%.

Fifty percent (50%) of voters favor reducing their home state’s government payroll by one percent a year for 10 years either by reducing the number of state employees or by cutting the pay of state workers. Twenty-eight percent (28%) oppose a cut of this nature, while another 23% aren’t sure about it.
In a survey last month, voters were evenly divided over the idea of a 10% across-the-board pay cut for all state employees to help reduce overall spending. Then again, this could be explained by liberals who don't want the budget cut and conservatives that want to cut it more. The article further states:
A sizable majority of Americans say their states are now having major budget problems, and they think spending cuts, not higher taxes, are the solution.

As a paleoconservative i do not condone democracy's majority rule. What does the law of the republic say? Liberty answers: fire them all.
ReplyDeleteLet us not forget the history of a very dark past, when....
ReplyDeleteOn May 2nd, 1933, the day after Labor day, Nazi groups occupied union halls and labor leaders were arrested. Trade Unions were outlawed by Adolf Hitler, while collective bargaining and the right to strike was abolished. This was the beginning of a consolidation of power by the fascist regime which systematically wiped out all opposition groups, starting with unions, liberals, socialists, and communists using Himmler’s state police.
Fast forward to America today, particularly Wisconsin. Governor Walker and the Republican/Tea Party members of the state legislature are attempting to pass a bill that would not only severely punish public unions (with exception for the police, fire, and state trooper unions that supported his campaign), but it would effectively end 50 years to the right of these workers to collectively bargain.
Collective bargaining is a process of voluntary negotiations between employers and trade unions aimed at reaching agreements which regulate working conditions. Collective agreements usually set out wage scales, working hours, training, health and safety, overtime, grievance mechanisms and rights to participate in workplace or company affairs. -wiki
