America and Canada are solid allies.
We are diplomatically, financially and militarily linked to each other. Our relationship is the envy of North American politics, and not another country would foolishly attempt to say other wise.
However, President Obama's proposed budget has a new tax that would cost every air and sea traveller from Canada $5.50. Never has America attempted to charge our allies from the North for visiting our country, and never has America's President wanted to.
Until now.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper is absolutely outraged that America would attempt to raise revenues by taxing the economic boosting travellers of a steadfast ally. Analysts are quite worried that increased air travel costs will result in more Canadians travelling by car to America, which would hurt the industry for both countries.
I am all for tarrifs, but this may be a stretch.
