UN Approves No Fly Zone Over Libya; Bombing Could Begin Tonight

For a month, Dictator Maummar Gaddafi has murdered innocent civilians and sent rebel fighters fleeing using superior air force.  That could end tonight.

The United Nations Security Council has voted 10-0 to approve a no-fly zone over Libya, effectively meaning that member nations of the United Nations will be firing on Gaddafi's war planes.  Russia and China abstained, but more importantly, did not veto the vote, which would have resulted in its failure.

The bill stated that member nations can use "all necessary measures" to protect civilians.  French President Nicholas Sarkozy said that French jets could be taking down Gaddafi fighters as soon as tonight.

Rebels have been pleading for a no-fly zone for weeks, as hundreds have died at the hands of Gaddafi's air force.  With this vote and the impending action it allows, the tide could once again turn in anti-Gaddafi forces.

  1. So tell me again why having Iran/muslim brotherhood running Libya is better than K-daffy?
