War on Libya: First Shots Destroy Libyan Vehicle.

French jets have fired the first shots in the U.N.'s mandated war against Libyan madman Muammar Gaddafi:

The first shot in a U.N. mandated intervention in Libya was fired by a French aircraft and destroyed a military vehicle at around 1645 GMT (12:45 p.m. EDT), French defense ministry and army officials said on Saturday.

The United States is preparing to launch missile strikes on Libyan air defenses.
