New York State Republican Chairman Ed Cox, who is the son-in-law of former President Richard Nixon, spoke at length last night on GOP successes all across New York State at my county's Lincoln Day Dinner, which was well attended.
He mentioned how our 2010 campaign efforts gained eleven Assembly seats; six Congressional seats and control of the New York State Senate. His message was quite Conservative, and he praised Republicans who have remained true to their values.
However, with all of this focus on domestic policy and politics, Chairman Cox did remember the vital issue that so many Republicans often neglect without a passing thought - national defense. It was mentioned briefly in what was a long list of issues the GOP leads on nationally, but it was said with conviction.
I applaud Chairman Ed Cox for including what so many ignore, because three cheers against higher taxation is all fine and good, but it means nothing if you don't realize we have to spend some if it on defending our country.
What say you?
Also, I asked Chairman Cox how he thought Chairman Reince Priebus was doing at the RNC - he said progress is being made, and that I was one of the few people to correctly pronounce his last name.
