The Finnish electorate will be heading to the voting booths next Sunday, April 17th, to elect a new governing coalition. One that will most likely resemble the current government, minus a dozen or so retiring and defeated incumbents.
Since March 2007, Finland has been governed by the Centre Party and the National Coalition, the nation's two largest parties in the unique three-party system. The current Prime Minister is Mari Kiviniemi, who leads the Centre Party, and rose to the position in June 2010 after Matti Vanhanen abruptly stepped down.
Sunday's election will only decide who the Prime Minister is, which political party will have the highest number of seats in the Eduskunta, and whether or not the True Finns party will perform as well as polls are indicating right now.

Finland?
ReplyDeleteAren't you kind of scraping, Mr K lol
Not really.
ReplyDeleteThis election could determe whether Finland joins NATO, adopts a flat income tax, or is taken over by anti-Swedish nationalists.
Pundit Press is going to cover all news, all over the globe.
Actually this result, far from being a parochial affair, may well decide the fate of the euro currency, and the possible bankruptcy of the euro 'project'. Fingers crossed x
