Republican Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma accused Grover Norquist of not representing all Conservatives this morning, and the founder of Americans for Tax Reform responded this afternoon by falsely claiming Senator Coburn "lied his way" into office when he first ran for the U.S. Senate back in 2004.
I'm not going to get into their full argument, that's what Politico is for, but I will comment on Senator Tom Coburn's comment about Mr. Norquist. On that, he's absolutely correct and should have stood up to this imposter years ago.
Grover Norquist likes to strut around and tout himself as a leader in the Conservative movement, but many rank-and-file members would beg to differ. His advocacy for abandoning the War in Afghanistan just to reduce spending is detested, and his inability to praise our legislators in Congress without praising himself is deeply disturbing.
Senator Coburn is the real Conservative. He has to make decisions every day in the United States Senate, while Norquist sits on the sidelines and yells at men.
What say you?
