The first debate of the 2012 Republican Primary season was held yesterday evening in Greenville, South Carolina, and the performances are interesting. Here is my opinion of the five Republican candidates who showed up:
Herman Cain: Wowed the crowd with his intellectual standing and speaking skills, but his plan on Afghanistan is nonexistent, and his call for replacing the federal income tax is absolutely impossible.
Gary Johnson: Seemed to be high on marijuana. He doesn't understand the reasons we went into Iraq. However, he's loyal to the Republican Party.
Ron Paul: Someone was not sane at the debate, and it definitely was the Texas Congressman. His views on Afghanistan are ignorant, Israel are nonsensical and legalizing drugs are downright stupid.
Tim Pawlenty: Handled the question of his past support for cap & trade legislation well. Stood strongly with taking action in Libya, and general Neo-Conservative principles.
Rick Santorum: Played the best with a large crowd of Socially Conservative Southerners. Touted his history of defeating incumbent Democrats as a reason to support him, and shut up Ron Paul on Afghanistan.
What say you?
