Former Utah Governor and Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman will announce his campaign for the 2012 Republican nomination this morning at the Statue of Liberty in shades of Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential announcement.
Mr. Huntsman's campaign is likely dead-on-arrival because the 2012 field does not have room for centrist Republicans since the country has moved right, and some of his positions are in direct contradiction to crucial Conservative values: support for stimulus, support for cap & trade, and opposition to interventionist policies while toeing the dovish line on Afghanistan.
And to be perfectly realistic - we do not need another candidate in the field who has no chance of winning the nomination, or the general election. Republicans will not support someone who worked for President Obama, and Americans will not elect someone who runs against their former boss. Just ask McClellan.
What say you?
