Negotiate with the Taliban?

Reports from Hamid Karzai indicated last week that both Afghanistan and the United States were involved in low-level negotiations with representatives of the Taliban. American officials would neither confirm, nor deny the reports, while several police officers were killed in Kabul by Taliban fighters that day.

Is this really happening?

I thought the United States did not negotiate with terrorists, especially those who gave cover and safe harbor to al-Qaida. Or those that have steadily been pushed back since our vital troop surge last year - resulting in nearly 1,000 surrenders by the enemy.

We are not fighting German militarism, or Japanese imperialism, we are fighting something much worse - Islamic Jihadism. This enemy is crueler and eviler than the aforementioned two were, while following a religion that compels them to lie in order to deceive and gain the upper hand on the infidel.

America is fighting the face of pure evil in Afghanistan. Our goal shouldn't be to negotiate and make peace with men of hatred and oppression in their soul, who would undoubtedly attempt to overthrow the Afghanistan government if we did leave, but to destroy them once and for all - freeing our country from one more threat and Afghanistan for the chance to finally live in peace.

Don't negotiate with evil; destroy it.

What say you?
