Despite Death Announcement, Taliban Says Mullah Omar Still Alive

Early this morning, the phone of Zabiullah Mujahid, the "spokesman" for the Taliban, sent out a message that "Amir ul Mumineen" Mullah Mohammed Omar had died. Later this morning, Mujahid said that the text was false and that it was American hackers who sent out the message.

The AP report states:
"He is overseeing operations in the country," he told the AP (yes, apparently he has a direct line with the AP). He added that "outsiders must have hacked into Taliban phones and the website."
The story later continues:
"The enemies of Islam have released news that esteemed Amir ul Mumineen is dead," the second message from Mujahid said. "That is completely baseless. It is a lie. Amir ul Mumineen is alive and he is busy with his daily works and organising the mujahedeen."
So, is he dead? Fingers crossed, but it looks like he may not be.
