The U.S. Senate took up Senator Reid's proposed debt-ceiling hike earlier this afternoon, and as expected, was voted down with no real surprises from either side of the aisle. It failed yesterday in the House of Representatives.
Republican Senator Scott Brown (R-MA) voted for Reid's proposal; Democratic Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Ben Nelson (D-NE) voted against it from the right, while Independent Senator Bernard Sanders (I-VT) voted against it from the left.
Reid initially voted for his proposed legislation before switching his vote for procedural reasons.
What say you?
