For the past 26 months I have been the Chairman of a countywide Young Republican club in New York, but was too young to actually participate in elections; fundraising; petition drives, or anything else involving the law.
Me and my fellow young GOP turks did a lot of ground work, but I had to watch everyone else actually vote and elect our local, state, and federal officials. It was painful to watch, especially when I wanted to see new friends win their race for Sheriff, or even Town Supervisor.
It's painful no longer.
On Wednesday morning I went down to the local Board of Elections office and finally - finally - registered to vote as a proud member of the Republican Party. Meaning I am no longer a young turk looking in, but a young turk taking part in the greatest political system on earth.
I might just be one new Republican, but I will work hard to equalize hundreds and hundreds of Democrats - and you can too.
What say you?
Happy Jury Duty day!
