Japanese Consulate Calls Occupy NY "Dangerous," Posts Traveler's Warning

Yesterday, the Japanese Consulate of Japan issued a traveler's warning to Japanese citizens visiting New York.  Such warnings normally occur in war-torn countries or cities that may be struck by terrorism.  Instead,  the advisement was because of one thing: "Occupy" New York.

The Consulate warned that protests should be avoided, particularly ones at Zuccotti Park.  More, they cautioned Japanese citizens to avoid going even near a raucous or noisy OWS gathering.

Yesterday, police raided Zuccotti Park in New York City.  They stated that the gathering, where OWS members had been camping for weeks, had become a crime-infested cesspool.  Later in the day, a judge declared that "Occupy" could gather in the park, but that they could not stay there overnight with tarps or tents.

The Japanese Consulate also warned that November 17 would mark two months since the protests began, and warned that this may be a big day for rallies.  They advised citizens to stay away.

  1. Leave it to the Japanese to inflict a little sanity into the situation.
