Johnson, Libertarian Party Nominee?

Gary Johnson, the former two-term Governor of New Mexico and current GOP candidate for President, told the Santa Fe New Mexican that he is considering bolting from the GOP and instead running for the Libertarian Party's nomination. Apparently, they have been overtures made by the largest third party to Johnson, who is perpetually stuck below 1% in the polls.

It appears Johnson is only considering a bolt because he feels the GOP is not giving him a fair shot to participate in the debates, and thus have a chance to compete for the nomination, which wouldn't be a problem in the Libertarian Party, due to the fact they select candidates via national convention.

I don't know how the Libertarians would respond to Johnson bolting, but then again they did support former GOP Congressman Bob Barr in 2008, who flip-flopped on everything he believed in the past several decades to win the party's nomination and they embraced him openly. So why not Johnson, a tried and true believer?

What say you?
