Ghalioun, in a news conference held at Interfax's Moscow office, said that the Syrian National Council was not asking for military intervention but rather "blue helmet" peacekeepers from the United Nations. This would certainly be a big step, but it's unlikely at this stage.
The peacekeepers were needed to ensure the safety of civilians and allow journalists free access to the country, Ghalioun said.
