The new campaign, called "Unfair Campaign," has purchased several billboards throughout the city. Here is just one example:
And another:
Not surprising, the campaign has people talking. Mainly, however, the talk is not about how thought-provoking the ads are, but at how stupid they are. In contrast, Duluth's mayor Don Ness supports the campaign. But wouldn't you support a man that looks like this?:

ReplyDeleteWisconsin State Fair Mob Attacks: Witnesses describe mobs, many people claim racially-charged attacks
By Jay Sorgi and the WTMJ News Team
CREATED 5:21 AM - UPDATED: 9:32 AM
WEST ALLIS - Witnesses tell Newsradio 620 WTMJ and TODAY'S TMJ4 of a mob of young people attacking innocent fair-goers at the end of the opening night of State Fair, with some callers claiming a racially-charged scene.
Milwaukee Police confirmed there were assaults outside the fair.
Witnesses' accounts claim everything from dozens to hundreds of young black people beating white people as they left State Fair Thursday night.
Authorities have not given official estimates of the number of people involved in the attacks.
"It looked like they were just going after white guys, white people," said Norb Roffers of Wind Lake in an interview with Newsradio 620 WTMJ. He left the State Fair Entrance near the corner of South 84th Street and West Schlinger Avenue in West Allis.
"They were attacking everybody for no reason whatsoever."
"It was 100% racial," claimed Eric, an Iraq war veteran from St. Francis who says young people beat on his car.
"I had a black couple on my right side, and these black kids were running in between all the cars, and they were pounding on my doors and trying to open up doors on my car, and they didn't do one thing to this black couple that was in this car next to us. They just kept walking right past their car. They were looking in everybody's windshield as they were running by, seeing who was white and who was black. Guarantee it."
Eric, a war veteran, said that the scene he saw Thursday outside State Fair compares to what he saw in combat.
"That rated right up there with it. When I saw the amount of kids coming down the road, all I kept thinking was, 'There's not enough cops to handle this.' There's no way. It would have taken the National Guard to control the number of kids that were coming off the road. They were knocking people off their motorcycles."
Another witness, who asked to remain anonymous, said, "it was like a scene you needed the National Guard to control."
"To me, it looked like a scene out of a movie," claimed the anonymous witness.
"I have not seen anything like this in my life. It was a huge mob, and it was a fight that maybe lasted one to two minutes."
Roffers claimed that as he left the state fair with his wife, crowds near that entrance were large, and someone in that crowd .
"As we got closer to the street, we looked up the road, and we saw a quite a bit of commotion going on and there was a guy laying in the road, and nobody was even laying there. He wasn't even moving. Finally a car pulled up. They stopped right next to the guy, and it looked like someone was going to help him. We were kind of stuck, because we couldn't cross. Traffic was going through. Young black men running around, beating on people, and we were like 'Let's get the heck out of here.' The light turned, and I got attacked from behind. I just got hit in the back of the head real hard. I'm like, 'What the heck is going on here?' I heard my bell ring."
Roffers further described what witnesses said happened to the man who was lying in the street.
"People were saying he was on a bike. They tore him off his bike and beat on him. We were walking to the west on Schlinger. I was watching behind me a lot more diligently, making sure there wasn't anybody coming to get us anymore."
One person claimed that someone was knocked off a motorcycle.
Milwaukee Police said that their officers were sent to State Fair Park for "complaints of battery, fighting and property damage due to a large, unruly crowd."
That sergeant explained that some injuries were serious, and local hospitals were attending to the injured.
That article I just posted above is much longer, and would not all fit here. There are many more descriptions of black mobs attacking whites in that article, and I recommend reading the whole thing.

He's not saying because you're white you're racist. He's saying because you're white you have advantages in society that make it hard for you to see racism around you. I'm from Duluth. I know that there is racism there. I've seen it first hand, and I am white, but it would have been hard to see if I hadn't spent time with non-whites (namely blacks and American Indians). This is not a racist campaign. I believe it's about helping open up dialogue about race in the community of Duluth. While some of people will take flight and jump to conclusions, others will keep their feet on the ground and seek to learn more about this issue.
ReplyDeletePathetic naive white-guilt BS.
Delete"Anonymous" - Where is the naivety in choosing dialogue over monologue? This very thread is a case in point. You may be name calling, but at least you're talking.
Delete"White guilt?" I'm not ashamed to be white. I don't apologize for the I did not commit. I'm saying I agree with the sign's purpose of getting whites to think about their overall privilege in US society and to be aware of it, to talk about it and explore its effects on non-whites. Racism is real. We may not be burning crosses anymore, but that doesn't mean racism doesn't exist behind closed doors. Duluth - where this campaign is being promoted - has a 90% white population. That's not wrong. It is what it is, but as a white person who lived there for over a decade, I know that blacks are denied housing not because of bad credit, but because of their skin color. I know American Indians are labeled 'drunks' and treated like children whether drunk or not. The problem of race inequality exists in Duluth and the primary perpetrators are white. That is what it is. The mayor and others decided to no longer stay silent but do something about it.
DeleteHave you ever heard a snake as it roasts in the fire and slowly dies? It cries and it sizzles, but eventually it burns up and troubles no longer. The venom that is being spewed against this campaign stems from racist anger and fear. The next generation and the generation are, in my hopes, fanning the flames that will slowly burn up racist venom. Perhaps this outcry is just the final cry of a dying ideology.
Pure white-guilt crap.
DeleteFunny how the writing on the poster is blurred just enough to not read what it says... "If you see racism, speak up" and other items about speaking out against racism.
ReplyDeleteRead the campaign and see what it is actually saying.
Here, I'll help you read what it says....
DeleteIt says....
"It's hard to see racism if you're White"
Emphasis on White!
Anti-racist is a code-word for anti-White!
ReplyDeleteWhat Patrick Buchanan is saying is: only white people--for the most part--understand the concept and practise of assimulation.
ReplyDeleteYou dumbass it doesn't call white people racist. Read the site before you shoot your moron mouth off like that.
ReplyDeleteunfaircampaign.org
Ahh you know what they say..."Denial ain't just a river in Egypt"
DeleteIt's implied genius. Heck screw implied-it's blatantly obvious with the white people and the words that appear on the signs.
I lived in Duluth for most of my life. The campaign is dead on. Duluthians are good people. Extraordinarily thoughtful and kind people. But when you have a community that is that uniformly white you aren't as aware of the problems people who aren't white face. It's actually a pretty tough place to live if you aren't white for that reason. This campaign is boldly tackling a real problem Duluth faces head on and the good people of Duluth will respond by supporting it and learning.
ReplyDeleteEXCUSE ME? Most white people ARE PERFECTLY AWARE of the "problems blacks face" and are ALSO AWARE that most if not all of them, THEY CAUSE REPEATEDLY FOR THEMSELVES! Enough of this "whitey's keeping the black man down propganda CRAP already!
DeleteIt does not matter the intent - If you are pointing out a problem then apply that problem to a race then you are racist.
ReplyDeleteYou don't appear to understand what racism is... It is the oppression of a group of people based on their race. In the US that means the oppression of black or hispanic people. The nonsense about anti-white racism is just silly. Any white person in this country knows just how silly it is. I'm white. Obviously I'm aware that I've never been discriminated against. In fact, if anything, I've been discriminated in favor of because I'm white. Crying about anti-white racism is despicable. It is just a tactic to try to water down the weight given to real racism by trying to include a bunch of silly stuff in the same bucket with it.
DeleteHoly crap what a load of white guilt you must be suffering from. No friend, ultimately it's treating/mistreating a person or group differently, unfairly, or harshly because of skin color/ethnic differences. You don't necessarily have to be oppressed-though yes that was racism in its *severest* form. I made a list of all the black on white BEATINGS (and a few murders) LAST YEAR ALONE, where multiple blacks on one or just a few whites, I counted at least 65. 65! And yes, racial slurs were used as the white person(s) were being beat in many cases. Many if not most of the stories and videos are still on the net-search YouTube. I can also tell you, anyone who has tried getting a job in South Florida that doesn't speak Spanish?-good luck with that. They tell you flat out in many of their ads "must be bi-lingual" HELLO? In the state/country I WAS BORN IN? Discriminate much? As for watering down? Utter B.S. dude-it's the white people that are the ones mainly victims of race today-ESPECIALLY after Obama has made so may racist comments. You're in the minority pal with your white guilt. Racism comes in ALL COLORS.
DeleteBlack average group I.Q. is 85, which is the lowest of any group in the US.
ReplyDeleteThat's why everybody else can succeed in this society but blacks.
Ever hear poor immigrants who come to this country whine like blacks do?
You don't and you won't because they're intelligent enough and have a good enough work ethic to succeed.
Blacks can't compete in any first world society in which they presently reside in any country in the West, not just the US.
They complain the loudest about racism and opppression using those straw men as excuses for why they fail in order to save face.
It's a lot easier for them to blame whitey for their lack of achievement than it is to admit they just can't cut it. It soothes their inflated egos also to think they're great, but they just can't get ahead because "the man" keeps them down.
They hate whitey for his success and they go ballisticly jealous of it, as they do with all the other groups in the US who outperform them. The key to their hatred is jealousy.
Many groups have average IQs below average. For example conservatives and religious people both average out below 100. White supremacists, I think it is a safe bet, average out much lower than black people.
DeleteI believe you meant both conservative and religious groups have I.Q.'s higher than 100. However, athiests and liberals both typically have I'Q.'s lower than 100.
DeleteThis campaign is definitely a racist campaign. It implies that even though Whites have experienced racism they don't know what discrimination feels like. Essentially, this campaign is either saying that Whites are racist or unbelievably stupid. The concept of white priviledge is a myth derived from white guilt. White priviledge assumes that because of the color of your skin, i.e. white, that you have never experienced discrimination (regardless of your circumstances). I will add here that there are other forms of discrimination beyond race. (Anyone remember the Irish and the NINA laws in this country). This billboard is declaring that those Whites that have experienced discrimination are either liars or that their experiences are unimportant. (Well that should help the area's suicide rate). This campaign is incredibly insensitize to Whites and will only encourage racism against Whites. Racism is a problem in Duluth, but this campaign starts out by immediately cutting out Whites from the discussion by saying that their feelings, experiences, and opinions don't matter. The Unfair campaign has already decided what the White response will be regardless of how Whites actually feel. They have proclaimed that Whites can't distinguish racism despite their own experiences to the contrary. I fully believe that the Unfair campaign is pursueing this campaign in the wrong way and will only bring about problems. In the end, all this campaign does is lay the blame for all the problems of the world on the shoulders of the Whites and tells all of the other racial groups that they don't have to take responsibility for their own actions or the way they treat people.
