Rebels Fight for Damascus Suburbs

Fighting in Syria has intensified in the past couple of days as rebel forces are pushing into the suburbs of Damascus, which are important chains in the government's supply lines, and only a stone throw's distance from the center of the capital city, Assad's last stronghold.

The suburbs, Dariya and Moadamyeh are key targets for the rebel forces, who are seeking to further isolate and cut off Damascus from the rest of the country, as well as to stage a second round of operations into the capital.

And as fighting as continued on the ground for these suburbs, Assad's loyalist air force struck a deadly blow on both towns as a combined thirty were killed and an unreported number were wounded by the attacks, showing the regimes willingness to launch deadly air strikes so close to home.

If only the international community, or at least regional powers, came to the aid of the rebels and established a no-fly zone to effectively handicap the regime's last conventional method of halting the advance towards Damascus. This war could be over a lot faster if only a few powers decided acting is better then watching...
