The market appears to be headed upward again. Both the wider market and Google
are up today.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 53.91 points, or 0.39 percent, to end at 14,035.67, led by Cisco and Merck. The Dow is within 1 percent of its all-time closing high of 14,164.53 hit on October 9, 2007.
The S&P 500 climbed 11.15 points, or 0.73 percent, to finish at 1,530.94. TheNasdaq rose 21.56 points, or 0.68 percent, to close at 3,213.59.
The CBOE Volatility Index (VIX), widely considered the best gauge of fear in the market, slid near 12.
