Senator Rand Paul's ongoing filibuster of John Brennan's CIA nomination, over Paul's concerns involving the federal government's use of drone strikes, has eclipsed six hours on the Senate floor and has attracted fellow Republicans Mike Lee, Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, along with Oregon Democrat Ron Wyden to join him in support.
Although nowhere close to deceased Senator Strom Thurmond's record-holding twenty four hour filibuster of the Civil Rights Act, Paul's marathon filibuster has attracted national attention to the use of drone warfare against United States at home and abroad.
It should be interesting to see how long Senator Paul's filibuster lasts, but regardless of length, it has definitely made a point of civil libertarians concerns with the government's ability to order drone strikes at will and even within the United States.
Stay tuned for updates on the epic filibuster unraveling on the Senate floor.
