Venezuela: Maduro Bans Planned Opposition Protest
In the wake of deadly clashes between Venezuelan police and opposition protesters in Caracas today, President-elect Maduro has banned a planned rally by Henrique Capriles and his supporters against the election commission tomorrow afternoon.
Capriles, who lost the insanely close election between himself and Maduro by less then three hundred thousand votes, is alleging fraud by government officials in support of Maduro - Hugo Chavez's heir to continue his socialist revolution - and demanding a recount of all ballots cast.
Peaceful protests have been called for across Venezuela against the "illegitimate" Maduro and Capriles blames today's deadly clashes on the government, while the besieged Maduro is refusing to budge and employing fiery rhetoric to rally his supporters, accusing the opposition of planning to overthrow him by force.
With the election margin less then three hundred thousand votes, both sides engaging in hostile rhetoric, particularly the government forces, I am worried Venezuela could be coming upon some dark days up ahead.
What say you?
