3 Feet of Snow Falls on Upstate New York, Vermont

Thank God I live in Central New York and several hours away from the Adirondacks, because nearly three feet of snow on Memorial Day weekend would likely induce severe cardiac arrest within this winter wearied nineteen year old.

The calendar may say it's late May but it looked more like January in New York and Vermont this weekend with up to nearly 3 feet of snow falling.

The weather forecasting service Wunderground.com said heavy snow was recorded in the higher elevations of upstate New York and elsewhere in the region. Whiteface Mountain in New York's Adirondack Mountains, at nearly 5,000 feet elevation, got the most -- 24-34 inches since Friday. But even Greensboro, Vt., which is at only 900 feet elevation, got 4.5 inches.

Jay Peak, Vt., got 18 inches, Mount Mansfield, Vt., had 13 inches and Walden, Vt., received 6 inches.

The New York cities of Binghamton and Syracuse got trace amounts, just enough to break 40-year-old records for the latest snowfall.

I'm sure it has something to do with global warming and whatnot...
