After almost a decade of service, the Army Combat Uniform or the ACU, is about to be phased out and replaced according to Army Chief of Staff General Odierno, who said the uniform's greenish-grey digital camouflage is "the wrong color," with Afghanistan a prime example of this camo-battleground clash.
Not one basic training uniform is alike, as they are all uniquely made by prison inmates. |
But while there will be much discussion and fanfare over what the uniforms will look like in just four years, the quality of men and women inside of them remains the most important element in our national military... Although the Army's should definitely be designed to put the other branches to shame, especially the U.S. Marine Corp - America's Cannon Fodder Inc.
What say you?
Ohhh the coveted MARPAT. So special that it's offensive to consider it be shared. Unfortunate mentality.
ReplyDeleteGet rid of the VELCRO!!
ReplyDeleteWhy the hell would someone say to get rid of Velcro. I as an Army soldier think the buttons are a step back from Velcro, I have had no problems with my Velcro sleeves. Buttons however are annoying as shit. I constantly see people taking more time buttoning and adjusting their sleeves than Velcro, all it takes is a smooth swipe of the hand and you're good to go.
ReplyDeleteVelro is easy. But it goes bad easily. in my oppinion I say they go the same route at A2CUs. Zippers on the pockets. Easier than than velcro and buttons and doesnt really go bad. The cuffs are fine with velcro. But pockets and flys... zippers all the way.
DeleteI say do away completely with velcro. For one how can you quietly open velcro? Secondly I have many uniforms that while the fabric is in good condition the velcro will not hold any more. I have seen way to many name strips ripped off on branches and the like. As for the cuffs. I have had a brand new jacket lose its hold in the cuffs after two washes. Buttons is the best way to go. Easier to repair too.
DeleteObviously an office rat...
ReplyDeleteVelcro would be fine if it would last longer than a couple of months. It just wont hold up to the use that it gets.
ReplyDeleteOf course you don't have a problem with velcro, your probably a pog in an s1 shop.
ReplyDeleteYes get rid of the velcro! How can you be tactically quiet in combat when you have to rip velcro apart to get into your pocket? The Army finally made the right decision to sew on your name, US Army, rank and badges but why not unit patches? The decision to use velcro is about as dumb as using a grey color scheme, were they planning on us fighting in a gravel quarry?
ReplyDeleteThe button system of the old BDU’s where often too tight or too lose, and with a full load including vest and drop sides it’s just plane inconvenient. The Velcro helps with rapid deployment in fire fights, but does wear out too easily plus kills stealth (There is silent Velcro being used but you wont find a good set at the PX). If you are deep Tac and need silence it will always be tie-on and hooks for the uniform and elastic bands to hold ammo securely in pouch.
ReplyDeleteGet rid of velcro go back to buttons. Go to old bdu design but in multicam with SOF shoulder pockets. You are def an office rat if your ACUs are not looking like junk falling apart within a few months. Now US Govt pay me for the new uniform design.
ReplyDelete12 years in and ACUs were def designed by the POG. Pen holders? WTF? Put your s..t in your pockets or assault pack. USMC can keep that MARPAT junk.
Thank god we have a winner cant wait to get my new u.s 4ces cammo gear its a good decision and as far as making the whole military use same gear is a outstanding idea we are all one nation we should have same uniforms in all our branches...
ReplyDeleteWhen was the last time you heard velcro rip open during a firefight? Seriously, how many of you guys have taken part in a stealth op and had to suddenly have the urge to access something from your velco pocket?
ReplyDeleteTake the velcro,ALL OF IT and shove up the a** of the personwho designed it! No it worth s**t for noise discipline when conducting patrols, or OP or what ever. And oh yeh, lets restore the professional image of a Soldier by putting velcro patches on that wrinkle and roll up when they get wet either by rain, dew, Georgia/Kentucky/Carolina humidity, or good old fashion sweat. I guess the office rat little b**chs that want that s**t so bad would know anything about the need for noise discipline or getting wet! I couldn't agree more with take the BDU's and make em whatever color you want and get back being Soldiers again.
