The refrain has been almost non-stop over the last several months since Ted Cruz's non-filibuster filibuster. The partial government shutdown, the media gleefully reported, has destroyed much of the Republican Party's credibility and it now faced the lowest popularity that it has in years.
Now a new Quinnipiac Poll has the two parties exactly even in preference at 39%. It also has Chris Christie leading Hillary Clinton nationally. Other candidates do not fare as well, with both Paul Ryan and Rand Paul behind 49-40% and Ted Cruz trailing 51-39%.
