BREAKING: Possible Military Coup Rocks Iraq

Iraq's parliament just chose a new President who refused to rename Prime Minister Nouri Kamal al-Maliki to a third term. Maliki declared the move unconstitutional and his own State of Law Party pulled support from him. Now his forces are seizing government buildings in Iraq, have closed the airport, and are surrounding the Green Zone.

His speech refusing to step down occurred at midnight and was followed by the military action.

State of Law coalition continue intensive consultations with all political parties and the reference to rid the country of the constitutional impasse and al-Maliki's military coup.

The lives of political leaders in the country is in danger and we appeal to the Iraqi people not to listen to cling to the job

UPDATE: Maliki calls for the arrest of the President of Iraq, a Kurd. This will lead to Kurdish indpendence.

  7. Just like Democrats abandoned Vietnam by abrogating the withdrawal agreement, Democrats have abandoned Iraq, which will disolved into chaos.

  8. Funny how it was George W. Bush who signed the withdraw agreement with Maliki. But you like to forget that part of things and assign blame elsewhere.

  9. It's not Democrats. Look around you. No one wants to be there. There is no Republican majority chanting for us to stay. The country is tired of this bullshit. Also... we left on Bush's timetable, so stuff it about the Democrats.

  10. It was Bush's timetable, but a contingency was to remain. an agreement to protect our troops was not forthcoming from Iraq's president and Obama just abdicated the need to negotiate, pulled the troops and left Iraq's independence to die on the vine due to lack of support. If nothing else our intelligence would have been necessary for their continued peace. I lay it at Obama's feet as he didn't even try.

  11. Obama's Folly

All of this happening in Baghdad, Iraq, and Obama vacations, golfs, and parties. What kind of leader is that! The boy should be on a permanent vacation. The loss of Iraq is solely in the lap of Barack Hussein Obama. He cannot blame George W. Bush for this one. Barack Obama, "You're fired!" (Donald Trump)

  12. The Iraqi position was non negotiable, do you even know what it was? Because if Obama agreed to allow US servicemen to be judged under local Iraqi law and punished by the local justice system, you people would be jumping down his throat for not telling the Iraqis to get screwed and walk out.

  13. The problem wouldn't be a problem I we weren't there in the first place.

  14. Carol hascit absolutely right, and a contingency force would have done the job to counter the 10,000-only ISIS forces who will nowvgrow bigger through fear tactics. Obama preferred to pander instead to those who like easy solutions.

  15. We had no valid reason to invade Iraq in the first place. it was a pissing contest between Dubya and Saddam. all of this because Hussein tried to kill daddy Bush. I see on facebook a question with Dubya's pic it reads do you miss me yet. my answer is NOOOOOOO! but I do miss the control Saddam had on he terrorists in !rag, and now we will have to fight them again and loose more of our children in the name of oil oops I mean freedom.

  17. Yes, I understand your befuddlement. After all, we brought them democracy.

  18. What democracy did we bring them? Look up the word in the dictionary.

    ReplyDelete
  19. That is exactly the point. Bush did not bring them democracy as he claimed, and blaming Obama is barking up the wrong tree.

  20. Give Iraq to the Kurds and declare it Kurdistan. The Kurds are the only ones smart enough to know how to run the country anyway.

  21. Obama returned them to Sharia Law and Islamists by bailing out of there.
