4 dead and nearly 50 injured in Oklahoma State homecoming parade crash

Police say four people were killed and nearly 50 injured -- 7 of them critically -- after a drunk driver struck a homecoming parade at Oklahoma State University. The driver was taken into custody on a DUI charge.

Those who died are: An unnamed juvenile, age 2; Nakita Prabhakar, age 23; Bonnie Jean Stone, age 65, and Marvin Lyle Stone, age 65. Of the nearly 50 people injured, many were juveniles between the ages of 1 and 13.

"Oklahoma State University is devastated by today's tragedy and extends its thoughts and prayers to the families of those who perished or were injured. We are shocked and heartbroken by this horrible tragedy.

"The Oklahoma State University Homecoming parade is the most wholesome of events and to have it marred in such a way is incomprehensible. We appreciate the rapid response and work of all emergency personnel.

"The OSU family will remember those affected by this tragedy.

"As we learn more about those killed and injured in what was a senseless and incomprehensible act, our hearts ache from the weight of the grief we feel.

"We ask everyone to lift up the families who lost their loved ones and those injured in your prayers. We are reminded once again of what is truly important in life - family and friends.

"The OSU family is deeply saddened," OSU President V. Burns Hargis said.
