Red: Romney, Blue: Huckabee, Orange: Gingrich, Yellow: Pawlenty, Green: Palin |
Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee might not want to run for President in 2012, but 14 of the 33 states that Public Policy Polling has called in regards to the 2012 Republican Primary race has selected him as their preferred candidate to faceoff against President Barack Obama - better than both Palin and Romney.
Huckabee has gained the important states of Florida and Texas since our last 2012 GOP opinion poll roundup in December, and he's tied with Mitt Romney for the state of New Jersey, which I have not included for the obvious reason that neither candidate can claim the state. However, a certain Governor could flip the state one way or another if he chooses to.
The former Governor is definitely in the right position to sweep two of the most vital states next year (Iowa and South Carolina), but his own attitude could cost him dearly if he jumps into the race too late, just research the candidacy of Fred Thompson for a possible Huckabee preview if he remains on the 2012 sidelines.
Gingrich is clinging to his two states: Georgia and Louisiana, while Pawlenty is still leading in his home state of Minnesota. Senators DeMint and Thune lead in their home states, but neither are going to run. Palin trails in her home state to Huckabee, and Romney leads in all three of his states: Massachusetts, Michigan and Utah.
Arkansas (Huckabee), Indiana (Daniels) and Mississippi (Barbour) haven't been polled as of this morning.
So what do you think?
I think that Huckabee is BobDoleJohnMcCain. And will lose bigtime.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, the only reason that Clinton won reelection is because we ran BOB FREAKING DOLE.
The only reason Obama won is because we ran JOHN FREAKING MCCAIN.
Huckabee is Obama's second term, just like Romney will be.
You are absolutely incorrect, Paul.
ReplyDeleteBill Clinton won his second term because of Ross Perot, and his "shift" to the center. And McCain lost to Obama because of the economy, and that's the only reason.
Mr. K-
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY reason I voted Republican in '08 was because of Palin.
I am still p1ssed at the Republican Party because by the time the primaries got to Texas all I had to choose from was RINOs- anyone I would have voted for had already dropped out because of the stacked "moderate" voting in the first 24 states.
This seems like we're being set up for a dark horse candidate
ReplyDeleteThere is no way Huckabee will win Florida...that's just plain baloney!!!..
ReplyDeleteThis poll is garbage. If any conservative believes any of these polls, this far out from the election, pull your head out of your....MSM article. Reminder
ReplyDeleteCampaign Report; Gallup Poll Shows Carter Leads Reagan, 49 to 41%
